Unpacking the Benefits of Using All-Natural Products in Your Daily Routine

THE PRODUCTS YOU USE ON YOUR BEARD, HAIR, AND SKIN ARE ABSORBED INTO YOUR BODY

In the current market and society, the words 'natural' and 'organic' frequently appear in discussions, marketing strategies, and product branding and labeling. Over the past decade, interest in and use of all-natural and chemical-free products have grown significantly. This trend is largely driven by increased knowledge and awareness of which ingredients are beneficial and which can be harmful (thanks to internet knowledge). As corporations expand and prioritize higher returns, the focus shifts to more economical ingredients and product offerings. This leads to decisions that produce lower-quality products, and inferior ingredients start to appear. Chemicals are now developed to mimic the effects of more costly all-natural products, which are more difficult to obtain, ship, and manufacture. Consequently, we begin to notice perfumes, fragrances, shelf-life extenders, mixing agents, and other harmful ingredients in everyday products.

Due to increased consumer awareness and the realization that companies prioritize profit over quality ingredients/products, consumers have started demanding healthier and safer options. For instance, for years, consumers used antiperspirants containing aluminum and other toxic ingredients. Once they discovered the harmful effects of these substances, all-natural deodorant became a priority for many. So, why don't companies simply use all-natural and chemical-free products? The answer, once again, is profit and the focus on financial gain. Natural products can be more expensive than chemical alternatives and may not have the same shelf life as lab-created products/ingredients.

Due to increased consumer awareness and demand for healthier and safer products, some companies have become quite deceptive in their marketing strategies and product labeling. They use terms and slogans like "made with natural ingredients," "plant-based ingredients," "water-based product," and "organic ingredients," often featuring images of cucumbers, melons, coconuts, etc., to mislead consumers. To the average consumer, these catchphrases and creative marketing seem appealing until you examine all the ingredients used in these "natural products." For instance, "plant-based ingredients" sounds fantastic, right? Until you discover that the other ingredients in this "plant-based" product may not be ideal for you. Advertising a product as 'plant-based' is not equivalent to promoting a 100% plant-based (vegan) product. Similarly, claiming a product is 'organic' is not the same as offering 'organic certified' products.

Essentially, consumers must be fully informed about all the ingredients in a product. They should also be vigilant about deceptive and misleading marketing and advertising. As a three-time cancer survivor, I find the ingredients in a product to be of utmost importance. Although all-natural products can be more expensive and may not last as long as chemical alternatives, they generally provide better benefits and results for your body and overall health. If given a choice, I prefer 100% all-natural ingredients over those containing chemicals and other additives. Ultimately, it's your body and your decision, but keep in mind that the products and ingredients you use on your beard, hair, skin, and body will be absorbed into your system. Finally, be very aware of the misleading and deceptive marketing tactics used by companies that aim to make consumers believe their products are natural and chemical-free, when in fact, they contain non-natural ingredients.

HOW IMPORTANT IS USING ALL-NATURAL PRODUCTS TO YOU?

  • VERY IMPORTANT

  • SOME WHAT IMPORTANT

  • NOT IMPORTANT AT ALL
